Our People, Our Place
The beautiful Kaimai Range is just one example of the wonders that can be found hiding in the little country in the South Pacific we call home. Aotearoa, the native name for New Zealand, translates to ‘Land of the Long White Cloud’ in Māori, our native language. Aotearoa is renowned for its isolation and pristine environments, which makes our Mānuka honey so unique.
Kaimai Gold honey comes from three remote regions in what honey producers call the Golden Triangle. The triangle extends from the great mountain of Taranaki, across to the wild East Cape and up to the very top of the country in Northland.
Our beekeepers know that when they nurture their bees and protect their natural environment, the bees will produce the best honey. Kaimai Gold relies on our expert beekeepers to practice sustainable beekeeping and harvest your honey at just the right point in the season to ensure the highest quality.
The Mānuka flower blooms for between two and six weeks during the Summer months. This is when our beekeepers become as busy as the bees themselves, harvesting the honey and locking in the Methylglyoxal (MGO) compound that makes Mānuka honey so special.
