Manuka Honey from New Zealand is produced by bees visiting the flowers of the native Manuka tree (Leptospermum scoparium). The Manuka tree has been used for centuries by the New Zealand Maori for its healing properties. While many honey products show some level of antibacterial behavior, Manuka honey is many times more potent that anything else and is unique to New Zealand.
Kaimai Gold uses the Unique Manuka Factor (UMF) rating system set up by the UMF Association of New Zealand to measure the antibacterial strength of the honey and is the industry standard for testing.
